Group Therapy

Recovering from Emotionally Immature Parents

Navigating adulthood after being raised by emotionally immature parents brings a slew of challenges. From struggling in friendships and relationships, to mood swings, to being easily caught in anger and uncertainty, the road map to regulating emotions, forming meaningful relationships, and knowing yourself is not clear when it has not been modeled early on. In this group, we will create a safe space for self-discovery, for understanding and learning how to cope with your triggers, and for developing compassion and love for yourself.

DBT Skills

If you battle with emotional ups and downs, have difficulty managing distress, and have difficulty in relationships, this group may be a good fit for you. DBT is split into 4 modules- Mindfulness (being in the present moment), Emotion Regulation (navigating intense mood swings), Distress Tolerance (managing distressful situations without making things worse), and Interpersonal Effectiveness (building and maintaining healthy relationships). Each module will focus on skills to help you better manage these areas of distress.

Participants can only join at the start of a new module. When joining, you are committing to participating in the full module, as you will get the most out of it this way.

Humans are very social creatures, and sometimes these social connections can be challenging. If you struggle to make or maintain friendships, feel unsure of how to ask for what you need in relationships, find yourself often in conflict or in unsatisfying relationships, this group would be helpful for you. We will utilize DBT interpersonal effectiveness skills as well as some process group dynamics to create a safe space to learn how to foster healthier and more fulfilling relationships. This group is relevant for all kinds of relationships (friendships and romantic relationships).
